In order to obtain a unique customs clearance code, you must first enter the P.UNI.PASS website of the Korea Customs Service. If you would like to receive an issuance from a mobile device, you can obtain it after installing the mobile customs service app.

When accessing the website, first select one of mobile phone authentication / joint certificate authentication in the middle of the screen. Then, enter your name and social security number and click OK.
Then a pop-up window will appear as above. For new issuance, click the New Issue button on the left.
If you are looking for a personal customs identification number, enter your mobile phone number on the inquiry/reissuance screen on the right and then press the verification code you will receive to check the customs number immediately.
In the case of a new issuance, if the authentication is successful, the issuance application page appears. Enter your name, social security number, address, and phone number, check the box below to consent to viewing personal information, and then click the Register button.
Then, as shown on the screen, a unique customs clearance code consisting of P and numbers is immediately issued. Personal customs identification number was issued very simply, in less than 5 minutes.
For reference, since the end of last year, the Korea Customs Service has changed the policy to require a unique customs clearance code for direct purchase, which was previously possible with the date of birth when purchasing industrial products, when making overseas direct purchases.
In other words, when buying a Samsung TV from Amazon during direct purchase honey season such as Black Friday, if it was possible to use the date of birth in the past, now you need a unique customs clearance code.
Therefore, obtain the personal customs clearance number that is essential for overseas direct purchases now.
Last but not least, as many of you may know, I can give you a tip when buying direct from overseas.
1. The maximum customs duty limit for one purchase is USD 160. This is the price including shipping charges. $200 USD in the US.
2. If you make a purchase at shopping mall A, and purchase at shopping mall B, and enter the port on the same day at the Korean customs, combined taxation will be applied. For this reason, it is recommended that you allow yourself plenty of time for overseas direct purchases as much as possible.
3. In the case of health functional food, the maximum quantity that can be purchased at one time is 6 pieces. In addition to this, there are also items with weight restrictions such as up to 5 kg of honey at a time. It is recommended that you check in advance what products you are purchasing and what the rules are.

One day, my father held out his cell phone and asked me to buy some of these. When I was asked to enter a customs code when paying, I saw that it was a purchasing agent product. There was also a button to kindly go to the Customs Service website to make it if you don’t have it. So, I decided to issue my father’s personal customs clearance number.
Both inquiry and issuance are possible at the Korea Customs Service, but it is not possible to inquire about a personal customs clearance number that does not exist, so you have to create it first, right? I moved to the website of the Korea Customs Service that was guided by the shopping mall. If you type the above in the search bar, related sites will appear. It is a mobile website of the Customs Service Personal Customs Unique Code. A long time ago, when I made it for myself, it was quite complicated, so I guess I was at a loss, but these days, more and more people use direct purchase, and overseas delivery has become a very natural society, so the process has become quite simple. First, enter your name and social security number, and then click the Real Name Verification button.
You can verify your identity with your mobile number. If it is successfully completed, click OK to go to the application screen.
Enter the address by clicking the magnifying glass icon. Also put your phone number right below.
The question of whether the person in charge of the Customs Service agrees to reading the information is a mandatory consent, so you must check it before proceeding to the next step. Below are the options. I checked it because it was not used for other purposes, and whether I would receive a notification through my contact information when an import/export report occurs with my customs number.
I’ll know right away when my things I’ve been waiting for are cleared, and I’ll know if someone stole my number. So, you need to double-check that you entered your phone number correctly.
If you have checked that the information you entered is correct, click Register at the bottom of the screen. When a pop-up window appears stating that the issuance of the personal customs identification number has been completed, click OK.
As in the image on the left, you can see that my personal customs clearance number has been issued. But honestly, it’s not easy to remember after the P’s after 10 digits. In this case, as in the image on the right, press the copy button to copy, paste it on my notepad, etc.

But what if it’s necessary and you don’t know why you didn’t make a copy? Don’t panic, just look it up 🙂
As with issuance, enter your name and resident number and press Real Name Verification.
Enter the mobile phone number you entered when issuing and press Send.

After entering the 6-digit number entered in the text message received, press OK.
Once you have verified your identity, you can look up your personal customs identification number starting with P. You can copy and paste it into notepad, etc. just like when issuing. Don’t forget to make a copy and buy a lot of what you like when you shop online overseas 🙂

You can think of the issuance of a unique personal customs number as a task to create a management number to be used for customs clearance. This code was created to make it easier for the Customs Administration to manage tax issues and customs clearance permits when importing or exporting goods to or from home and abroad. These days, in addition to public certificates (joint certificates), financial certificates, mobile phone authentication, PASS, Samsung Pass, Kakao Talk, mobile phone authentication, etc. are easily available, so it does not take long.
Foreigners can enter their alien registration number and, if they do not have this, they can clear customs with their passport number without issuing a unique customs clearance number.
Even if you forget to use it for a long time and apply for a new issuance of a unique customs number, you will be informed of its existence after looking up the personal customs code in the same window. And through simple authentication, you can check your personal code and other information.
If you check the red box option in the photo above, you will be notified via SMS when an import/export report occurs, but I have not received any notification from the Korea Customs Service so far, other than contacting me through a logistics agency through KakaoTalk. You will only be notified when you have to pay tax or have a customs problem.
