I like to travel, so whenever I have time, I search for cheap flights every day. In this post, I will tell you about my own know-how to buy airline tickets at a low price.
Booking time and timing
Many people think that it is cheaper to purchase airline tickets early, 6 or 8 months before the travel date.
This is true to some extent, but in my opinion, there is not much of a difference and I think the prices fluctuate depending on whether it is peak season or off-peak season.
In other words, there are times when airline tickets are cheaper on average after 6 months, while there are times when airline tickets are cheaper after 1 month.
If you avoid the business season or peak season, you can reserve tickets at a cheaper price.
From June to August in southern European countries, from July to August in southern European countries
In the United States and Canada, the typical summer vacation season runs from June to August.
In Southeast Asia, the peak season is from November to February.
Japan’s peak season is concentrated from April to November.
For countries located in the southern hemisphere, Australia and New Zealand, the peak season for summer holidays can be from December to February.
Route selection
Airline ticket prices can vary greatly depending on the route selected. It is important to consider various factors and choose a route that suits your travel purpose and preferences.
Typically, there are direct and transit flights.
Direct flights save time and are convenient, but connecting flights can be cheaper.
A direct flight to Singapore is 576,700 won on T’way Airlines, but you can fly via Beijing on Air China for 318,800 won.
Since specific regulations regarding visas for transit countries vary from country to country, it is important to check in advance accurate information about the country you are traveling to and the transit country.
Use low-cost airlines
If you are planning a trip and want to purchase airline tickets cheaply, you should consider Low-Cost Carrier LCC low-cost airlines.
We will tell you the features and reasons for using Full-Service Carrier FSC compared to large airlines.
Difference Between FSC and LCC
Full-Service Carrier (FSC)
FSC is a large airline that offers a variety of services such as comfortable seats, meal services, and entertainment systems. Although the convenience and quality of service are high, ticket prices can be proportionately higher. It mainly includes long-distance international routes.
In Korea, Korean Air and Asiana Airlines are representative FSC airlines.
Overseas, there are Emirates Airlines of the United Arab Emirates, Singapore Airlines of Singapore, Thai Airways of Thailand, Turkish Airlines of Turkey, Qatar Airways of Qatar, Cathay Pacific of Hong Kong, Ewa Port of Taiwan, and ANA of Japan.
Low-Cost Carrier (LCC)
LCCs are airlines that minimize costs and offer cheap flights. Only basic services are provided, and additional services are provided for a fee. Most of them operate on short-haul routes, domestic routes and short-haul international routes.
In Korea, Jeju Air, Jin Air, Eastar, T’way, Air Busan, and Air Seoul can be considered LCC airlines.
Overseas: Air Asia, Scoot, Peach Air, VietJet Air
If you want cheap air tickets, you should choose LCC. By choosing an LCC, air tickets to the same destination can be much cheaper than an FSC. However, reservation cancellation and change fees may be less free than FSC, and in-flight meals, seat spacing, and baggage weight restrictions are less free than FSC.
