Students or their parents’ representatives who are newly applying for education benefit support in 2024 can apply for a voucher separately and then use it for education expenses. Let’s find out the eligibility and application method for the 2024 education benefit voucher.
Starting in 2023, the Ministry of Education, the Office of Education, and the Korea Scholarship Foundation will provide grants in the form of vouchers to elementary, middle, and high school students from low-income families to support various educational activities. Students eligible for education benefit support can use education benefit vouchers for educational activity support funds, admission fees, tuition, and textbook costs.
The annual voucher amount provided to each student varies.
The application period for education benefit vouchers is available throughout the year, but students who wish to receive education benefit support from the beginning of the semester can apply during the intensive application period below.
Intensive application period: March 4, 2024 ~ March 22, 2024
You can apply online by accessing the Education Benefit Voucher website.
Students who have already received the 2023 education benefit voucher can receive the 2024 education benefit voucher without having to apply separately in 2024.
If your household’s recognized income is less than 50% of the standard median income, you can apply for an education benefit voucher. Median income refers to the income of the household located in the center when all households in the country are ranked by income.
The recognized income amount for each household member in 2024 is equivalent to 50% of the median income, as shown in the table below.
Students who are 14 years of age or older and eligible to receive education benefits, or their parent’s representative, can apply both in person and online.
When applying in person, you must check the reception desk information in advance on the Education Benefit Voucher website homepage. Students from regions where there is no reception center information can only apply online. For example, among applicants for education benefits, students residing in Seoul are not eligible to apply in person, but can apply online.

If you have a credit or check card in your name from one of the card companies or banks listed below, you can receive a voucher.
Students who receive education benefit vouchers can only use them for educational support purposes, and cannot use them in industries unrelated to education, such as entertainment or gift certificates.
Expenses required for learning can be used within the voucher, and can be used for learning-related items as shown below.
Educational benefit vouchers can be used to make combined payments with other payment methods. For example, if the cost needed to purchase a textbook is 70,000 won, but the voucher balance is only 60,000 won, you can pay the remaining 10,000 won at your own expense.
Education benefit vouchers can be used from the date of issuance until August 31, 2024. Vouchers cannot be converted to cash, and any vouchers not used within the deadline will be forfeited in full.
