교통안전 공익제보단The Korea Transportation Safety Authority is recruiting the ‘2024 Traffic Safety Public Interest Reporting Group’, where citizens can directly report traffic law violations by two-wheeled vehicles.

According to the Transportation Safety Authority on the 11th, the Public Interest Reporting Group plans to recruit a total of 5,000 people nationwide this year. It has been recruiting continuously since the 29th of last month, and you can apply through the corporation’s website and QR code.

Reporting Group members can report not only serious traffic law violations such as crossing the center line, but also violations of laws by two-wheeled vehicles such as driving on the sidewalk, not wearing a safety helmet, and covering or damaging license plates through the Safety Reporting Group or the National Reporting Group.

In order to encourage reporting activities, the corporation will pay a reward of 4,000 to 8,000 won per report (up to 20 cases per month).

The reward is paid differentially depending on the reported item, such as 4,000 won for violations of the Road Traffic Act, including driving on the sidewalk and not wearing a helmet, 8,000 won for serious violations of traffic laws, such as running red lights and crossing the center line, and 6,000 won for violations of the Automobile Management Act due to covering or damaging the license plate.

The reporting team reported a total of 743,720 cases of illegal two-wheeled vehicle activities since May 2020, when it was first introduced, until the end of last year. The number of reports has been increasing every year, from 47,000 cases in 2020, 196,000 cases in 2021, 233,000 cases in 2022, and 266,000 cases last year.
