Summary of US stock holidays
As I wrote in a previous article, there are two exchanges in the U.S. stock market, NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange, and the New York Stock Exchange has a larger weight than NASDAQ.
The opening and closing times of the two markets are the same, and changes such as early closing and closing days also apply, so it would be helpful to find out in advance.

Independence Day Independence Day July 4th (Thursday)
Labor Day Labor Day September 2nd
Thanksgiving Day Thanksgiving Day November 28
Christmas Day Christmas December 25 (Wednesday)
Usually, as shown above, the U.S. stock market is closed for approximately 10 days, and if the closing day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, Friday and Sunday are designated as substitute holidays, respectively.
It is not a closed day, but it is an early closing day.
Due to the influence of closed days, there may be days in the future or the following day when the market closes at 1 PM Eastern Time.
■ Independence Day: If July 3, the day before July 4, falls on a weekday, the market closes at 1 p.m.
■ Thanksgiving: If the day after Thanksgiving is a weekday, the market closes at 1 p.m.
■ Christmas: If Christmas Eve, December 24th, is a weekday, the market closes at 1pm.
Date: July 3 (Wednesday) November 29 (Friday) December 24 (Tuesday)
Memorial Day Day before Independence Day Day after Thanksgiving Day after Christmas Eve
US stock market daylight saving time
Unlike our country, the US stock market has a special period called Summer Saving Time.
It is literally a system that starts the day one hour earlier to save daylight, considering that the sun rises earlier during the summer.
■ Daylight Savings Time Start Time: At 2 am on the second Sunday in March, the time changes to 3 am.
■ Daylight Saving Time End Time: The time changes by 1 am at 2 am on the first Sunday in November.
Because this system is not implemented in Korea, it is often unfamiliar. Please note that the US stock market opening and closing times will also change by one hour during this time.
In conclusion
Donghak ants, Seohak ants, fighting!
We briefly looked at the 2024 US stock market closing dates, early closing dates, and daylight saving time.
Anyone who invests in U.S. stocks will know that as holidays and vacations approach, stock prices fluctuate more and many investors sell their stocks and go on vacation in peace.
Considering this situation, I think it would be helpful to use a strategy of selling stocks you own or buying stocks you wanted to buy at a low price. Good luck to you, Donghak ants and Seohak ants.
