Those who frequently travel abroad are bound to be sensitive to exchange rates. And if you use your card overseas, you may be worried about fees. I use Hana Bank’s Travelogue Check Card without any overseas card fees, and when I exchange money in Korea, I receive the 100% exchange rate and use it to withdraw money abroad.
Today, I would like to introduce the Travelogue check card currency exchange benefits and issuance method. If you travel abroad a lot or plan to travel abroad, be sure to obtain this card before your trip to travel abroad without loss.

1. Features of Travelogue Check Card
Travellog Check Card currency exchange benefits and issuance method (Travellog)
In a broad sense, you can think of the Travellog Card as a card exclusively for Hana Money (Hana Card points). Therefore, Hana Money membership registration is required, and if you are a member of Hana Money, you can apply for a Travelogue check card right away.
Card payments can be made within the Hana Money balance, and if the balance is insufficient, payment can be made through Hana Money recharge. However, it is not possible to recharge Hana Money using a credit or check card, and only deposits can be made through a Hana Bank account. When using domestically, you can pay within the Korean won Hana Money balance. When using overseas, you can pay within the foreign currency Hana Money balance.
You can exchange foreign currency by recharging or converting specific partner points into Korean won Hana Money on the Hana Money app. However, overseas ATM withdrawal limits have per transaction, daily, and monthly withdrawal limits. Please refer to the relevant information on the Hana Card website before leaving the country. Currently, withdrawal limits are set as shown in the table below.
Maximum ATM withdrawal amount per transaction Maximum ATM withdrawal amount per day Maximum ATM withdrawal amount per month
USD 1,000 USD 6,000 USD 10,000
2. Travelogue Card main benefits
1) 100% preferential exchange rate, currency exchange available 24 hours a day
The Travelogue Card provides 100% preferential exchange rates when exchanging 26 different currencies. Since most banks charge a fee, they give only about 80% preferential exchange rates. Even VIPs often only get preferential treatment up to 90%. However, the Travelogue Card provides 100% preferential exchange rates and has the convenience of allowing you to exchange currency directly at any time you want, 24 hours a day.
The four major foreign currencies: US dollar (USD), Japanese yen (JPY), European euro (EUR), and British pound (GBP) can always be exchanged with 100% preferential treatment and no commission. In addition, 22 other currencies will not incur fees like the 4 major currencies until March 31, 2024.

2) Exemption of payment fees for overseas affiliates
The biggest advantage of the Travellog Card is the exemption of payment fees for overseas affiliates. When used at overseas affiliated stores, the overseas service fee is USD 0.5. The foreign service fee is originally USD 0.5, but the Travellog card is exempt from the fee at 0 won. Additionally, the 1% international brand fee is also exempted.

1) Recommended target for Travellog check card issuance
Travellog check card issuance is recommended for those who frequently travel abroad or on business trips, make a lot of overseas payments such as direct overseas purchases, plan to travel abroad, live or study abroad, and have a Hana Bank account or Hana Money account. If you get it issued, you can enjoy many benefits.
And if you need a contactless card (MASTER) with no annual fee, it would be a good idea to get a Travellog check card. In particular, contactless cards are used in about 70% of countries in Europe, so it is very convenient to get one.
2) Hana Bank Travellog Card Design

1) Preparation before applying for a check card
(1) Those eligible to issue a Travelogue card must be Koreans aged 14 or older.
(2) There are two brands that can be issued: Master Card and UPI. If you want to use a contactless card or are from a country other than Greater China, choose MasterCard. If you are traveling to Greater China (Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Macau), choose UPI.
(3) All you need to prepare for issuance is an identification card (resident registration card, driver’s license).
(4) Because it is a Hana Money linked product, a Hana Bank account and a Hana Money account are essential.
(5) You must decide whether to add the transportation card function or not.
