Chinatown, Wolmido selected as ‘2019~2020 Korea Tourism 100’

Incheon Jung-gu (Head of District Hong In-seong) announced on the 2nd that Wolmido and Chinatown, representative tourist destinations in the district, were selected as ‘2019~2020 Korea Tourism 100’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.
The 100 Best Tourist Attractions in Korea is an event held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism every two years since 2013 to promote 100 representative tourist destinations in Korea in order to revitalize domestic tourism. Incheon has selected a total of four places (Chinatown, Wolmido, Central Park, Sorae Port) this time, and two of them are located in Jung-gu, Incheon.
In particular, Chinatown has been selected as one of the 100 Best Tourist Attractions in Korea for three times in total, following its selection in ‘2013~2014’ and ‘2017~2018’, earning the honor of being the representative attraction of Jung-gu. Wolmido was selected for the first time this time.
Mayor Hong In-seong said, “Based on the selection results of the 100 Best Tourist Attractions in Korea, we will continue to develop tourism products and do our best to attract tourists through extensive promotional activities to help revitalize the local economy.”
Meanwhile, this year’s 100 Best Tourist Attractions in Korea was selected by comprehensively reflecting various criteria such as a survey on tourist attraction awareness and satisfaction, analysis of big data from news agencies, SNS, and navigation, evaluation by academia and travel experts, and on-site evaluations. Places selected for this year’s 100 Best Tourist Attractions in Korea can benefit from opportunities to participate in travel fairs and public promotional tours (fam tours).
