반려동물 의료비지원 신청방법Gyeonggi Province announced that it will establish a ‘2024 Animal Welfare and Companion Animal Promotion Plan’ containing these contents and begin implementation starting this month.
Gyeonggi Province explained, “We plan to support medical expenses, care expenses, and funeral expenses for low-income people, severely disabled people, single-parent families, multicultural families, and pets raised in single-person households.”
Specific support targets are vulnerable groups and single-person households living with pets and earning less than 120% of the median income. A total project cost of 160 million won will be invested to support a total of 800 animals at 200,000 won per animal (including 40,000 won in self-pay).
Pet medical support items include vaccination costs, neutering surgery, and basic checkup/treatment costs (including surgery); care support items include pet care consignment fees; and funeral support items include animal funeral costs.
Gyeonggi Province plans to provide priority support to pets with registered embedded microchips. Therefore, guardians who wish to receive support must first register their companion animals (dogs, cats).
How to apply is as follows.
Submit an application to the city or county of your address on your resident registration, receive services at an animal hospital (consignment facility, animal funeral facility), pay the cost first, and submit it to the city, county or administrative welfare center by attaching supporting documents such as payment receipts. You can receive support of up to 200,000 won (up to 160,000 won excluding self-payment of 40,000 won).
The number of cities and counties participating in the medical expense support project increased from 13 to 26.
The Gyeonggi-do companion animal medical service support project, now in its fourth year, involved 13 cities and counties in the first year, but the number of participating cities and counties increased significantly this year. Of the 31 cities and counties, 26 (84%) are participating (Suwon, Yongin, Goyang, Hwaseong, Seongnam, Bucheon, Namyangju, Ansan, Pyeongtaek, Anyang, Siheung, Paju, Gimpo, Gwangju, Hanam, Gwangmyeong, Gunpo, Yangju , Osan, Icheon, Anseong, Guri, Uiwang, Yangpyeong, Dongducheon, Gwacheon).
Shin Byeong-ho, head of Gyeonggi Province’s Animal Welfare Department, said, “We hope that positive effects will increase, such as reducing the burden of medical expenses on socially disadvantaged groups and improving companion animal welfare,” and added, “We will further expand animal welfare policies to ensure that companion animals in vulnerable groups can also enjoy healthy lives.” “We will strengthen our support,” he said.
“Puppies under one year old, receive free socialization training”
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province also provides free ‘baby puppy socialization education’ for guardians raising puppies under one year of age.
Training includes ▲overall theoretical learning through online video conferencing, ▲walking manners with a dog, and body handling learning through field practice.
‘Baby Puppy Socialization Education’, which is part of Gyeonggi-do’s pet culture education, selects various topics every month and provides education.
Training applications and further details can be found at the Gyeonggi-do Animal Welfare Protection Platform.
